Music From Beyond
At my mother in law’s funeral, “What a Wonderful World” was played. She loved the song and it was in perfect keeping with her joy and love for life. On important days - family members hear this song. I think it is her way of reminding us that she’s still involved and sees us.
This past Mother’s Day, I was up with a cranky baby and laying on my couch at midnight. The clock turned a minute past midnight and I thought suddenly, “oh - it’s Mother’s Day!” and then, “I wonder if Mom knows about her grandchildren.” I had DVR’d a show and was watching it, the moment the clock turned and I had that thought, there was a commercial. I tried to fast forward through the commercial and wound up hitting the wrong button, and landed on live TV. What do I see? Louis Armstrong singing, “I see trees of green, red roses too I see them bloom for me and you. And I think to myself what a wonderful world.”
I hugged my baby closer and said in my head, “Happy Mother’s Day mom! We love and miss you….”
What a Wonderful World
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They’re really saying I love you.
I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more than I’ll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.
